Court Reporting

On the Record

Accurate court reporting is an essential part of every deposition, hearing, examination, and case. So is reliable access to the transcript when counsel, the court, or a client needs it. That is the work Alpha Reporting & Video has done since 1981.

Our reporters take the record and produce a written account you can use when testimony is reviewed, cited, or presented later. A professional court reporter is not a courtesy add-on to a recording. The transcript is the record of what was said.

Alpha is locally owned and has been based in Springfield, Missouri for 45 years. We are the largest locally owned court reporting firm in the area. The office is at 1911 S. National, Suite 405, Springfield, MO 65804. From that office we cover Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas, and Northwest Arkansas. When the proceeding is not at a location we already know, we travel to the client.

Court reporters in Springfield and Southwest Missouri

Need a court reporter Springfield MO? Call the office or use the schedule page. This is a court reporting Springfield practice first. We cover depositions, hearings, and examinations in town and throughout the region.

Joplin, Branson, and Nixa are part of the service area, not separate offices. There is no Joplin office. One firm, one phone number, and the same production process apply whether the job is in Springfield or another town in the region.

We will come to you. Many counsel prefer their own offices, a hospital, a plant, or another location the witness can reach. Travel is a regular part of how we staff work.

What we cover

The reporting work we take includes depositions, hearings, and examinations. That is the core of the practice: a reporter on the record, a transcript you can rely on, and a production process that does not change with the caption.

We also provide legal videography when counsel wants a video record of the proceeding. The transcript is the official written record. Video captures tone, pacing, and demeanor that the page does not. When both are needed, say so when you book so the reporter and the videographer can be assigned together.

Realtime and delivery

Alpha pairs court reporting with current, trusted technology so the audio and video records are as clear as the setting allows. When realtime reporting is requested, the reporter’s feed can be delivered to your device during the proceeding. That is the same service this page has always described: real-time interpretation and translation of the spoken record, delivered as it is being made, not only after the transcript is produced.

After the proceeding, production includes rough drafts when you need an early look at the testimony, transcript turnaround on a schedule you can plan around, and delivery of the finished transcript. Complexity, expedites, and exhibit volume all affect timing. Tell the person who takes the order what you need, and we will say what we can do. If the job requires a realtime reporter, say so when you schedule so the assignment is made correctly.

Nationwide through DepoSpan

Alpha is a member of DepoSpan. Through that network, coverage can be arranged outside our home region when a case needs a reporter in another city or state.

That is how nationwide work is handled. We do not operate a chain of offices, and we do not claim certification in every state. We are a Springfield firm. For testimony set far from Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas, or Northwest Arkansas, DepoSpan is the path we use to put a reporter on the calendar.

For work inside our service area — including Springfield, Joplin, Branson, and Nixa — we usually send our own people and, when asked, we travel. For work farther out, ask us to coordinate through DepoSpan rather than starting a new search on your own.

Schedule a reporter

To put a reporter on the calendar, call (417) 887-4110 or use the schedule page. You can also reach the office through the contact page.

When you call or submit the form, it helps to have the date, time, and location; the type of proceeding (deposition, hearing, or examination); whether you need realtime reporting or a rough draft; and whether legal videography should be booked with the reporter. If the witness or counsel is outside the usual area, say so. We will tell you whether we will travel or whether the job should go through DepoSpan.
